I/ITSEC 2017: Antycip Simulation launches The Hub

Antycip SimulatiTechViz vr software Antycip Simulation demo centeron formally launched its new regional demonstration centre (RDC) at its UK headquarters in Adderbury, Oxfordshire on 16 November.


Known as The Hub, the new RDC follows the establishment of a similar facility at the company’s Italian facility in Saronno, near Milan, Italy.


A subsidiary of ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Antycip Simulation is a virtual reality and 3D immersive solutions integrator, and a provider of a wide range of simulation software and consultancy services.


The company has 25 partners that provide both software and hardware simulation solutions that Antycip can draw upon.


The Hub has been created in partnership with projection specialists Barco, which has provided its F90, F70 and F50 projectors for use in a number of spherical, flat, and rear-projection display systems. In addition, The Hub also contains a CM Labs Vortex Advantage test rig.


‘The idea behind The Hub is to have a demonstration centre where current and potential customers can see demonstrations and evaluate their own software using different configurations before they buy,’ explained Chris Waldron, UK regional manager at Antycip Simulation .


‘This will provide them with our expertise and the opportunity to de-risk their solutions. We hope that this process will help to shorten the procurement cycle and get the latest technology into service quicker than ever.’


The company said that, ‘The Hub will also help Antycip Simulation address the growing requirement for VR technologies in the design, academic and engineering sectors. The latest display solutions are complemented by a broad portfolio of software solutions for simulation, analysis and digital rendering – all underpinned by Antycip Simulation’s renowned expertise in this specialised field.’


As well as Barco’s projectors and CM Labs Vortex products, The Hub demonstration also featured Vicon motion tracking devices and TechViz VR visualisation in a 3D immersive collaborative working environment; VT MAK’s VR Vantage image generator, VR Forces computer generated forces and VR Engage virtual wargaming products; and VIOSO digital edge-blending and geometry alignment solutions.

Advanced Virtual Assembly

Permet de simAdvanced virtual assemblyuler des opérations complexes de montage/démontage et d’expliquer des problèmes de fabrication et de maintenance à une équipe à distance. Les utilisateurs sont aussi capables de bouger une pièce du modèle ou de manipuler un outil virtuel de manière interactive, d’activer et de détecter des collisions. Ajouter un connecteur à une application telle que Catia, Navisworks, Creo ou NX permet de fournir également des informations sur les pièces, comme définies dans la base de données PLM.

Interactive Image Integration (I3)Interactive image integration

Le but est d’émuler une interaction tactile avec des IHM dans l’environnement immersif. Ces IHM sont des applications 2D indépendantes intégrées dans la maquette.

Par exemple, dans une voiture virtuelle, le doigt d’un utilisateur peut être traqué grâce à un dé à coudre permettant d’interagir avec l’interface virtuelle du GPS.

La collision entre l’outil d’interaction et l’interface utilisateur émule un clic de souris d’ordinateur. Cela permet de créer différents scénarios comme le fait de tester l’accessibilité des commandes à partir du siège conducteur d’une voiture par exemple.

Marionette

Virtual manikin

Dans TechViz, vous avez la possibilité d’insérer un avatar humain virtuel : une marionnette, et ce sans avoir besoin de bodytracking.

A l’image d’une véritable marionnette, cet avatar peut être manipulé en le tenant par divers membres et articulations : poignets, genoux, coudes, pieds, tête et buste. Une fois l’avatar généré dans TechViz, il peut être placé dans une posture (assis/debout/accroupi). Il est également possible d’enregistrer une posture pour une prochaine utilisation/revue de projet.

Grâce à cet avatar, on peut vérifier qu’un utilisateur peut attraper un objet et accéder à des commandes en fonction de son emplacement et de sa posture. On peut ainsi voir quelles sont les postures à adopter pour réaliser une tâche alors qu’il y a des obstacles.

Nuage de points

Un nuage de points constitue une donnée 3D d’un modèle/environnement existant et est la plupart du temps réalisé à l’aide de scanners 3D. Ces derniers permettent de créer rapidement un « modèle 3D » (seulement constitué de points) représentant un objet/environnement physique réel sans avoirPoints cloud besoin de le créer manuellement de zéro (ce qui prend beaucoup de temps et coûte de l’argent).

Comme le modèle est « recrée » avec des points, il semblera plat une fois affiché sur un écran non stéréoscopique. Les utilisateurs auront un meilleur rendu de l’objet/environnement en affichant le modèle en 3D avec des possibilités de tracking (un environnement virtuel).

L’option tracking de TechViz permet aux utilisateurs de se plonger et de s’immerger dans leur modèle. Ils peuvent naviguer dans le modèle et voir ce qu’ils avaient manqué sur un écran normal.

TechViz will demonstrate its solution in various systems, including its TechViz VR package in a head-mounted display, a light system enabling you to do project review or even ergonomic studies and correct mistakes at an early stage in your industrial models.

Collaborative demonstrations will take place on TechViz booth E4, between a HTC Vive and a Powerwall thanks to a Mirage WU14K-M Christie projector or between 2 HTC Vive. TechViz collaborative option enables real time collaboration between co-workers in different locations, on any VR device.

Advanced Virtual Assembly

Enables to simulate compleAdvanced virtual assemblyx mounting/dismounting tasks and explain manufacturing and maintenance issues to a remote team. Users are also able to move interactively a part of the model or manipulate a virtual tool, activate and detect collisions. Adding an application connector for Catia, Navisworks, Creo or NX enables to provide part information based on what is defined in the PLM database as well.

Interactive Image Integration (I3)Interactive image integration

The aim is to emulate a touch-sensitive interaction with HMI in an immersive environment. Those HMI are independent 2D applications integrated in the mock-up.

For example, in a virtual car, users’ fingers can be tracked thanks to a thimble and interact with the virtual GPS interface.

The collision between the interaction tool and the user interface emulates a computer mouse click.

It enables to create various scenarios such as testing the hands accessibility to the main commands from the driver seat of a car.

 

Manikin

Virtual manikinIn TechViz, you have the possibility to insert a virtual human avatar: a manikin, without using BodyTracking.

Modelled on a real manikin, this avatar can be handled holding it by several limbs and articulations: wrists, knees, elbows, feet, head and chest. Once the avatar created in TechViz, it can be placed in a posture (sitting/standing/crouching). It is also possible to record a posture for a later use/project review.

Thanks to this avatar, we can check a user can catch an object and access commands based on where it is located and its posture. We can then see which postures to adopt to do a task even if there are impediments on the way.

 

Points cloud

Points cloud are 3D data of one existing model/environment and are most of the time created using 3D scanners. They enable to create quickly, a ‘3D mPoints cloudodel’ (only made of points) representing a physical real object/environment without the need to create it manually from scratch (which takes a long time and costs a lot of money).

Since the model is ‘recreated’ with points, displayed on a normal non-stereo screen it will look flat. Users would get better insights of the object/environment itself by displaying the model in 3D with tracking possibility (a VR environment).

TechViz tracking option enables people to dive and immerse themselves into their model. Users can navigate inside their model and see what was missed on their normal screen.

L’affichage immersif de maquettes 3D s’intègre parfaitement dans la chaîne du BIM.
